Guillem Bauza has expressed his delight at being fit enough to return to first team action.

Bauza made his first St James Park appearance since the Johnstone Paint Trophy match against, ironically the Shots, earlier in the campaign, and he spoke to the Official Site to explain his frustrations at being on the sidelines.

‘I’m really happy, it’s been a tough season. I’ve had a few injuries, but finally I think I’m fit enough to be back week in, week out.’

Bauza explains that one of the worst things about being injured is the damage it does to a players confidence.

‘Injuries harm your fitness, because when you get back your fitness levels are lower, but they also affect your confidence because you start thinking you aren’t ready to play in the game. It’s the worst thing, you’re meant to be helping your team mates but you have to be in the stands.’

The manager however praised the striker for the performance on his return, and Bauza admitted he took a lot of heart from that, and promised it was only the beginning for him again, as with more fitness and more match sharpness he’ll be far more effective for us again.
