City’s 18-year-old centre back Scott Bennett has signed a one year extension to his contract after impressing at the heart of the defence for the under-18’s and reserves this season.

Paul Tisdale told the Express & Echo: ‘We are very pleased because this is another young player coming through.

‘He is a promising young player who has got a future at this club and it is another indication of how the development system is working at Exeter.’

The development system consistently produced first team players including Moxey, Seaborne, Friend and Sercombe in the last few seasons despite having their funding cut following our relegation in 2003.

When it was rumoured that Seaborne could be leaving the club in the transfer window many fans pinpointed Bennett as the player to make the step up into the first team’s defence.

The Grecians travel to Luton today looking for a vital win that could move them closer to the automatic spots.
