The St James Park crowd of 4,916 for the visit of Shrewsbury was better than the first attendance of the season for seventeen of Exeter City’s League Two rivals.

Surprisingly, the derby between last year’s Blue Square champions Aldershot and near neighbours Bournemouth attracted 350 fewer than flocked to the Park.

Bradford start as they mean to go on with the division’s highest crowd of 14,038. Luton pulled in over 7,000, Port Vale attracted 6,643 and Shrewsbury, Bournemouth and Gillingham all had crowds above the 5,000 mark.
