Former Exeter winger James Coppinger hopes to return to first team action for Doncaster this weekend after being stretchered off in their last match, a 3-1 defeat to Swansea. Coppinger had poked home the opening goal of the game before a head injury meant he had to be substituted after 45 minutes.

Gary Sawyer, who was on previously on loan at City from Plymouth, set up Carl Fletcher`s debut goal for Argyle in their 2-2 draw with Sheffield United that did little to ease their relegation fears. Before that match Sawyer was one of only two Argyle players to have scored a league goal since Boxing day after his goal against Crystal Palace.

The other player to have found the net in that time was ironically Jamie Mackie. The former Grecian scored for Plymouth a few weeks ago at Preston and has been described by many fans as the only bright spark in their side during the long winless streak.

Adam Virgo who made eight appearances for City in 2002/03 made the headlines for week for good and bad reasons. He scored the winning goal for Brighton as they beat Milwall last weekend before being sent off on Tuesday night in a 1-1 draw with Northampton a red card which has earned him a lengthy five match ban!

Further down the footballing pyramid, Shaun Lamb, who was at Exeter on a non-contract basis, recently signed for Chippenham Town and helped them to a clean sheet and a 1-0 victory last weekend against Bedford Town.

Billy Jones was linked with a return to Exeter last week and our former left-back has been in fine form. His winning goal (a free-kick) against Southend on the 17th was followed up by starts in both of Crewe`s vital wins at the foot of League One.

Another former Grecian Danny Woodards also appeared in all three of those Crewe victories and he has been a regular for the club at right-back this season.

In the Blue Square Premier, Wayne Carlisle gave away a penalty as Torquay slipped up 2-1 at Kettering last weekend and was not even on the bench as the Gulls drew 3-3 with Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday.
