Midfielder Arron Davies has said that the players can’t feel sorry for themselves following our third straight defeat against Northampton Town, we simply can’t afford to spend time licking the proverbial wounds, we have to get back out on the training pitch and work hard to get our form back, especially with tough trips to Mansfield and Oxford on the horizon.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, he explained/

‘We need to get the wheels turning again – we know we can do it, we’ve been on a run before. We went from rock bottom up to seventh, and we can do it again – let’s start next week.’

Davies goes on to say that with Mansfield having a new manager now their players will be out to impress, so it’s going to be another difficult game and they are naturally a tough side to face anyway but he knows that if we can ‘get ourselves right’ in training this week, we have every chance of getting back to winning ways if we play properly and give our all.

‘We can’t feel sorry for ourselves for a second. We won’t let that happen as player and we’ll demand more of each other. When you get a result like that you just want the next one to come along and we’re looking forward to Saturday already.’

Finishing on Northampton, he admits that we were far the better side in the opening 20 minutes but we failed to take our chances and that gave them the chance to come back into the match themselves, so he knows it’s key we start brightly again in the next match, but we have to take our chances, and then respond far better to any knocks that come our way by creating more and keeping on going.

‘It is small margins and we’re not far off – we’ve just got to keep doing what we’re doing and work hard. It’s always going to be small details in football – we’ve just got to turn them in our favour and make them go our way.’
