Tomorrow marks the third clash between Exeter City and Plymouth Argyle this season.

The rivals were thrown together in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy southern section quarter-final in November where the Grecians triumphed 2-1 on a pulsating night at Home Park.

Ryan Harley had given City an early lead before Chris Clark scored an opportunist second-half leveller. The match seemed to heading for a penalty shoot-out before substitute Daniel Nardiello struck deep into stoppage time to sent City through. Ugly scenes followed after the game as fans clashed outside the ground.

Just a few weeks later Argyle had their revenge when a Bradley Wright-Philips brace sentenced the Grecians to a 2-0 defeat at Home Park.

This time the sides meet at St James’ Park for the first time since 2001. This time it was Argyle who left it late to claim victory with Ian Stonebridge scoring in stoppage time to give the Greens a 3-2 victory.
