Exeter City reserves were 3-1 winners this afternoon against a strong Bristol City reserve side.

Troy Archibold-Henville opened the scoring with a header after 24 minutes in the behind-closed-doors friendly in Bristol.

Adam Stansfield was withdrawn for Steve Basham at half-time on Saturday but started this match with a bang, hitting the bar before doubling City’s lead before half-time.

This smart finish past goalkeeper Chris Weale would have done his first team chances no harm at all.

And Stansfield got his second goal of the game in the second half, nodding in a Basham header.

Bristol City made it 3-1 before full time and hit the bar but they couldn’t stop an impressive win for the Grecians against a side which included David Noble, Jamie McCombe and Scott Murray.

City side: Marriott, Sercombe, Murray, Bennett, Obersteller, Archibald-Henville (Frear 65 mins), Cozic (Dawson 20 mins), Osman B (Green 10 mins), Stansfield, Basham, Shephard.
