It’s a break from league 2 football for some this weekend as the FA Cup takes centre stage again, but with Exeter’s cup involvement over we will have a game.

Exeter’s FA Cup exit, and that of Burton Albion for that matter, in the first round meant that the game at St James Park on Saturday afternoon, scheduled for sometime next year, was brought forward to fill a void.

Former Republic of Ireland Clinton Morrison, who signed non-contract terms recently, is still awaiting his debut and will have to wait again but should be among the subs.

Scot Bennett returns after injury but Pat Baldwin, Jamie Reid and Jordan Moore-Taylor remain unavailable to Paul Tisdale.

Burton will bring in Darragh Lenihan but Robbie Weir (groin) is out, Ian Sharps (foot) could return from injury but they’ll be without Phil Edwards (suspension) and Lucas Akins (ankle).

Ahead of the game Exeter boss Tisdale told BBC Radio Devon: ‘(Clinton Morrison) is fit enough, he’s strong enough, it’ll be down to the state of the game and whether it’s the right substitution at the right time.

‘A place on the bench is an appropriate place for him at the moment and given what happens in the matches will give me the opportunity.

‘It’s a good opportunity for both sides, we’ll both be looking for three points because it’s a rare occurrence when you can play a game when everyone else is standing still.

‘We’ll be very much looking to steal that march on someone else this Saturday, but we have to win the game and get the points before we can even think about that.’
