Ex-Bristol City skipper Joe Burnell played for City reserves in their 1-0 win against Yeovil Town at Huish Park on Tuesday.
Burnell was recently released by Oxford having played 22 games this season.
He started his career at Ashton Gate making 131 appearances for City, scoring four times. He was club captain at the Gate before joining Wycombe Wanderers where he played 57 times.
He moved onto Northampton Town, again making 57 appearances and scoring once before moving to the Kassam.
Some of City’s second string got a good run out as they prepare for a vital double header against Brentford and then Wycombe over the Easter Weekend.
