Making another trip to the Woodspring Stadium, Exeter came out on top in a two one victory over Weston-super-Mare the other day.

Trialist Alex Fisher opened the scoring for us in the first period of the game, and Tom Nichols added our second within minutes of the restart – Weston did find the net themselves in the second period but it was only a consolation on the day.

Exeter had the far better of the early chances in the game with birthday boy Jamie Reid being the first to register a chance on goal, but their keeper saved well. Chances fell to the hosts though and it was down to a crucial Jordan Tillson lunge to put off their player before the ball fell to Ingram who saw his effort blocked by a colleague.

The game ebbed and flowed somewhat as you’d expect but Exeter were more in control and good chances, including a goal line clearance, came our way in the opening period.

Ahead of opening the scoring, Fisher also found the woodwork.

With a second eleven on show after the half time restart, the game’s complexion changed as they also made three changes of their own and with people finding their feet for the second half, Nichols doubled our advantage within three minutes.

Harley could’ve added a third as well, as could Wheeler before Weston found their consolation.

Holmes had a chance after that to give us the two goal cushion again but missed narrowly, and Weston had the chance to level from a set piece, but it too went wide.

Having found himself beaten though, Hamon was called into action successfully a few times as the second period wore on.
