Following the earlier speculation linking Matty Grimes with a move to Swansea, that has now come to pass.

When the media first reported that a deal had been done, Exeter said.

‘The club is delighted with the form of Matt Grimes and would like to state that despite rumour, conjecture and news articles he remains an Exeter City player.’

That is no longer accurate as he completed the move to Swansea as the January window opened.

The 19 year old moved for an undisclosed sum that the media reported could’ve been as high as £1.75million ultimately, but all the club would confirm was that it was a ‘substantial’ fee and he is ‘comfortably the record sale’ in our history.

Having signed his first professional deal back in the summer of 2013 after coming through our ranks from the age of ten, he made his debut in last season’s two nil home win over Wimbledon and leaves us having made a total of 62 appearances for the club, scoring five goals.

His maiden season in 2013-14 saw him voted our Player of the Year for the campaign, and he was also part of the under 21 squad that reached the quarter final stage of last season’s under 21 Premier League Cup, beating Torquay, Crystal Palace, Southampton and Blackburn along the way.

He could make his Swansea debut when they face West Ham at the Liberty Stadium on January 10.
