Ben Hamer is facing a race to be fit in time for Saturday`s game with Huddersfield.

Hamer is nursing a groin strain he picked up in last weekends draw with Swindon.

Painkilling injections got the 23-year-old stopper through last nights clash with Southampton and he hopes that he will be fit in time to face The Terriers on Saturday.

Speaking to thisisexeter.co.uk he said:

‘I tweaked something and picked up a groin strain in the last five minutes against Swindon and, even though it’s clearing up, I had to take a few pain killers to get me through the Southampton game.

‘It didn’t affect my performance though and it certainly didn’t have anything to do with the goals – they were just down to intelligent play and good finishing from Rickie Lambert.

‘I had to adjust my goal kicks and drop them a bit short to put less pressure on my groin, which wasn’t ideal.

‘But I’m hoping it will be back to normal again by the weekend because I’ve been happy with how I’m playing but you don’t really want to be playing with an injury.’
