Exeter City have completed the loan signing of Ryan Harley from Swindon Town.

He moved initially to St James Park from Weston-Super-Mare back in November 2007 and went on to make 144 appearances for the club, scoring 32 times.

Since leaving the club in 2011 to move onto Swansea City, he has since gone on to play for Brighton and MK Dons on a loan spell before linking up with Swindon in the summer of 2013.

He made 25 appearances for them last season, but hasn’t feature since last March.

He has been handed the No 33 shirt, and joins us initially until January.

Speaking to the Official Site about his return, manager Paul Tisdale explained.

‘He trained with us a while ago and he has been back at Swindon for the last month. We haven’t seen him for a while but we’ve agreed a deal to bring him on loan until January, with the intention of making it permanent.’

Tisdale goes on to say that tomorrow’s game against Shrewsbury Town may be a game too soon for him as obviously having not played in such a long time his match fitness won’t be right, but he would have been assessed yesterday and today in training on that score, but the gaffer said he wouldn’t be risked if he wasn’t right so we didn’t run the risk of injury with him.

‘He did very well for us before, but he has to get back onto a dynamic footing and get his form. I wouldn’t say ‘you’re only as good as your last game’ – that’s a cliche and a little bit strong, though you certainly need to get your form up. But he has got a few credits.’

One of those credits the gaffer believes is the memories fans will have of him from his spell here before, but he knows we shouldn’t expect too much too soon and we need to be patient to build him back up again, but clearly the sooner we get him up to speed the better for him and for the club.
