Exeter City are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Lee Holmes in the three nil victory over Morecambe at the weekend at the Globe Arena was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Holmes was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Holmes was in blistering form as Exeter swept aside Morecambe with a first-half blitz. The 29-year-old raced clear to tee up David Wheeler for the opener, was involved in a neat move which led to the second, before finishing brilliantly with the outside of his boot to score the third.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Holmes for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.

Full Team:

Christian Walton (Luton Town), Alex Pearce (Derby County), John Egan (Brentford), Jazzi Barnum-Bobb (Newport County), Sone Aluko (Fulham), Lee Holmes (Exeter City), Matt Taylor (Northampton Town), Duane Holmes (Scunthorpe United), Glenn Murray (Brighton), Aleksandar Mitrovic (Newcastle United), James Hanson (Bradford City).

Manager – Graham Barrow (Wigan Athletic).
