Exeter’s League 2 season continued with a win against Dagenham at Victoria Road on Tuesday.

A defeat last weekend was bounced back from with the Grecians winning two-one on the road.

Nosworthy had a goal ruled out for a foul before Harley (36) sent Exeter into the break ahead. Brown (62) headed the second just past the hour with the Daggers’ Jones (86) curling past Exeter ‘keeper Olejnik late on but that was a mere consolation.

The other results this midweek were as follows:-

Tuesday 18th August
AFC W’don 1-2 Cambridge Utd
Accrington 1-0 Mansfield
Barnet 2-0 Northamptn
Crawley 0-0 Portsmth
Dag + Red 1-2 Exeter
Hartlepool 1-0 Newport
Leyton Or 3-0 Stevenage
Luton 0-1 Bristol R
Morecambe 0-1 Wycombe
Oxford Utd 3-1 Notts Co
Plymouth 4-1 Carlisle
York City 1-0 Yeovil

Looking at these results the stand out ones have to be Crawley’s draw and Barnet and Hartlepool’s wins?

Barnet, gaining a first win back in the Football League having lost both the previous league games but beating Millwall in the League Cup, saw off the previously unbeaten Northampton. Not only had the Cobblers not lost they hadn’t conceded but that changed at the Hive with a two-nil Bees win!

Hartlepool last season struggled at the start of the campaign, and basically throughout, looking dead certs to go down with just a few months of the season to go! A turnaround for Pools has seen them win every league and cup game so far this term, including the one-nil win at Victoria Park against Terry Butchers struggling Newport.

The phrase ‘parking the bus’ was made famous by Jose Mourinho and that’s what Crawley did against Portsmouth at the Broadfield Stadium, which brought them a ‘positive’ nil-nil draw with unbeaten Pompey to end their own 100% run.

It’s back to action this weekend with a game against York at St James Park.
