Exeter’s League 2 season continued with a defeat against Northampton at Sixfields on Saturday.

A first setback of the season was suffered by Exeter when the Grecians were beaten three-nil against a Northampton side that maintained their own 100% record whilst ending that of Tisdale’s side.

Northampton were ahead when Taylor (25) scored into the top corner from 25-yards.

Wheeler looked to get Exeter level before Cresswell’s (38) header before half time was adjudged to have crossed the line and the goal was given to leave the Grecians with it all to do.

A second half fightback, like the one Yeovil managed against Exeter the weekend before until the later winner from Hoskins, wasn’t possible with Richards (89) adding a late third for the home side.

The other results this weekend were as follows:-

Friday 14th August
Notts Co 0-2 Mansfield

Saturday 15th August
Barnet 0-2 Wycombe
Carlisle 4-4 Cambridge Utd
Crawley 1-2 AFC W’don
Dag + Red 1-3 Leyton Or
Luton 2-2 Oxford Utd
Morecambe 1-0 Accrington
Newport 2-2 Stevenage
Northamptn 3-0 Exeter
Plymouth 1-2 Portsmth
Yeovil 0-1 Bristol R
York City 1-2 Hartlepool

Looking at these results the stand out one has to be the incredible draw between Carlisle and Cambridge!

An up and down game at Brunton Park saw Carlisle come from behind and Ibehre grab himself a hat-trick, the first in League 2 this season to continue his early season form, but that still wasn’t enough to give the Blues all three-points in a four-four draw with free scoring Cambridge.

Exeter are back in action this midweek with the Grecians looking for a reaction in another away game against Dagenham at Victoria Park.
