League one round-up – Exeter 0 Carlisle 0

League one round-up: 5th November 2011

The latest weekend of the football league season has been and gone, the npower league one is rounded-up in this article.

Bournemouth 2-0 Scunthorpe
Home advantage helped Bournemouth to a 2-0 win over Scunthorpe.

Goals in each half from Malone (20) and Thomas (73) gave The Cherries and impressive win.

Charlton 5-2 Preston
A goal blitz from Charlton in the first half helped them to an impressive win over Preston at The Valley.

Jackson (16) opened the scoring for Charlton with another three goals following in a little over 20-minutes as Morrison (22), Jackson again (26) with a penalty and Wright-Phillips (38) sent the hosts into the break 4-0 up.

Hollands (69) added another for Charlton before two late goals from Morgan (85) and Daley (90+1) gave Preston some respectability to the scoreline.

Chesterfield 2-2 Yeovil
Yeovil twice came back from behind to force a draw at Chesterfield.

Bowery (4) gave Chesterfield an early lead but Massey (29) levelled for Yeovil before the break. Another from Bowery (55) restored the home sides lead but a late own goal from Allott (76) ensured that the visitors returned home with a point from the 2-2 draw.

Exeter 0-0 Carlisle
A mini-run being built up by Exeter was extended against Carlisle, although they had to be content with sharing the points.

Neither side could force a breakthrough so it was a point apiece after a 0-0 draw.

Huddersfield 1-1 Walsall
That unbeaten run that Huddersfield are on keeps growing but they had to be content with a point against Walsall.

After a goalless first half Novak (67) opened the scoring for Huddersfield midway through the second half but Walsall forced a 1-1 draw when Paterson (78) scored.

Leyton Orient 1-1 Hartlepool
10-man Hartlepool managed to collect a point at Leyton Orient.

Cox (23) gave Orient a lead that they took into the half time break although a penalty from Austin (54) early in the second half drew Hartlepool level at 1-1, which is how it ended.

The visitors did play the final 20-minutes with 10-men though when Murray (70) was sent off for collecting a second booking.

MK Dons 3-1 Rochdale
Three goals in less than 15-minutes saw MK Dons turn a game in their favour as they recorded a home win over Rochdale.

All the goals came in the first half with Rochdale taking an early lead through Barry-Murphy (8). Smith (17), MacDonald (22) and Beevers (31) all scored for MK Dons though in reply as they came from behind to win 3-1.

Notts County 1-1 Wycombe
There was a goal right at the very start of the match and one right at the very end as Notts County and Wycombe shared the points.

Hosts Notts County were ahead before the game had barely started with Burgess (1) scoring. The points looked to be County’s but an injury-time goal from Grant (90+2) gave Wycombe a 1-1 draw.

Oldham 0-2 Bury
Both sides ended with 10-men but it was the visiting Bury that beat Oldham 2-0.

Oldham’s afternoon was made a lot harder when Cisak (10) was shown a straight red early in the game. Bury capitalised on this numerical advantage when Bishop (22 & 30) scored twice in quick succession.

The visitors also ended with 10-men when John-Lewis (90+2) was sent off in injury time for collecting his second yellow.

Sheff Wed 0-0 Brentford
It was a point apiece for Sheff Wednesday and Brentford.

Nor the hosts or visitors could break the deadlock so the points were shared after the 0-0 draw at Hillsborough.

Stevenage 2-1 Sheff United
Stevenage scored late to beat Sheff United at home.

Roberts (42) gave Stevenage the lead just before the break but just over midway through the second half Sheff United looked to have rescued a point when Evans (69) scored. The hosts were not to be denied though and Laird (82) struck late on to secure a 2-1 win.

Tranmere 0-0 Colchester
It was goalless at Prenton Park between Tranmere and Colchester.

Tranmere and Colchester had to settle for a point each after the 0-0 draw which would suit the visiting U’s more.
