League one round-up: 2nd-5th September 2011

The latest weekend of the football league season has been and gone, the npower league one is rounded-up in this article.

Carlisle 1-3 MK Dons
MK Dons went to Carlisle and collected the points; goals from MacDonald (45+1), Bowditch (47) and Lewington (62) were enough to secure a 3-1 win. Miller (52) scoring for the hosts.

Chesterfield 0-0 Leyton Orient
It ended goalless at Chesterfield with them, and Leyton Orient, claiming a point a piece in a 0-0 draw.

Hartlepool 2-0 Exeter
Exeter’s disappointing start to the season continued as they lost again, this time a 2-0 reverse at Hartlepool. Goals in each half from Liddle (5) and Luscombe (89) secured the home side the points.


Notts County 3-1 Bournemouth
Bournemouth, beaten in the play-offs last season, continue to struggle this time around and were beaten again at the weekend. Goals from Hughes (1), Pearce (78) and Montano (86) were enough to see County through to a home win, Pugh (71) scored for The Cherries.

Oldham 1-1 Huddersfield
The points were shared at Boundary Park with Kuqi’s (6) goal cancelled out by Huddersfield’s Kay (16) to give the sides a point each.

Scunthorpe 1-1 Colchester
Grant (38) scored for Scunthorpe before being sent off, even so the host were on for a home win until Gillespie (74) grabbed a 2nd half equaliser meaning the points were shared at Glanford Park.

Sheffield United 4-0 Bury
Two teams new to this division this season came up against each other but it was Sheffield United that ran out comfortable winners over Bury. Porter (43), Mendez-Laing (47), Lowton (71) and Tonne (84) scoring the goals for The Blades.

Stevenage 4-2 Rochdale
A brace from Beardsley helped Stevenage to a home win over Rochdale. Reid (13), Beardsley (30 & 45+2) and an own goal from Trotman (70) were enough to give Stevenage the win. Jones (28) and Ball (71) scored for Dale.

Tranmere 0-0 Yeovil
Neither side could manage a breakthrough at Prenton Park so both Tranmere and Yeovil had to be content with a point apiece

Walsall 0-1 Brentford
A single goal, from Donaldson (27), was enough to give Brentford an away win at Walsall on Saturday afternoon.

Charlton 1-1 Sheffield Wednesday
An early goal from Wright-Phillips (3) for Charlton was cancelled out by a Morrison (56) strike in the 2nd half to ensure that Sheffield Wednesday left The Valley with a point.
