League one round-up: 29th October 2011

The latest weekend of the football league season has been and gone, the npower league one is rounded-up in this article.

Brentford 2-1 Chesterfield
Brentford returned to winning ways with a home win over Chesterfield.

Saunders (24) gave Brentford the lead midway through the first half but Chesterfield were soon level when Clarke (27) scored. Bennett (82) scored in the closing minutes to give the hosts the points in a 2-1 win.

Bury 1-2 Stevenage
Bury were beaten 2-1 by Stevenage at home.

Harrison (38) and Roberts (75) put Stevenage in control before a Bishop (78) penalty gave Bury hope but they could not force an equaliser.

Carlisle 3-3 Oldham
An injury-time goal completed a fine fightback from Carlisle as they claimed an unlikely point against Oldham.

Two goals from Kuqi (22 pen & 38), either side of one from Adeyemi (33), had Oldham in control with half time approaching. Just on half time Miller (45+2) gave Carlisle hope with Zoko (48) scoring against shortly after the break. The comeback was complete deep into injury-time when Zoko (90+4) made it 3-3.

Colchester 4-2 Notts County
An impressive 4-2 victory over Notts County was secured at home by Colchester.

A goalless first half then saw the goals flow in the second, with all six scored in this period the first from Wordsworth (49) to give Colchester the lead. Notts County were level just before the hour though through Sodje (58).

Three goals in less than 10-minutes swung the game The U’s way with Antonio (66), Henderson (71) and Odejayi (74) all on target. An injury time own goal from Heath (90+3) was a mere consolation for the visitors.

Hartlepool 0-4 Charlton
Charlton soundly beat Hartlepool 4-0.

Wright-Phillips (9 &37) scored twice in the first half with second half goals from Hollands (55) and Wagstaff (84) rounding things off.

Preston 1-3 Bournemouth
Bournemouth went into half time behind but a second half comeback saw them win at Preston 3-1.

Tsoumou (29) had put Preston ahead but the second half goals from Thomas (48), Malone (57) and Pugh (68) gave the visitors the points.

Rochdale 0-2 Leyton Orient
Leyton Orient went to Rochdale and beat them 2-0.

Goals in either half from Smith (12) and Mooney (65) secured the win for the visitors.

Scunthorpe 4-2 Tranmere
Tranmere twice lead but still came back from Scunthorpe with nothing but a 4-2 defeat.

Tyriaki (4) gave Tranmere an early lead but Duffy (20) levelled for Scunthorpe although Tyriaki (32) scored again to put the visitors ahead again but Grant (44) levelled things up again just before the break. Dagnall (52) and another from Grant (67), from the spot, secured the points.

Tranmere also had Baxter (63) sent off just after the hour.

Sheff United 4-4 Exeter
An incredible match, that swayed back and forth, eventually saw Sheff United and Exeter play out a draw.

Nardiello (9) and Noble (23) had Exeter 2-0 up before goals from M Phillips (45), Clarke (65) and Lowton (70) then put Sheff United 3-2 ahead.

The final 10-minutes saw Exeter level through O’Flynn (82) but another from M Phillips (85) looked set to give the hosts the points but instantly the visitors levelled through Dunne (86) with 4-4 being the final score.


Walsall 0-2 MK Dons
MK Dons got back to winning ways with a victory at 10-man Walsall.

With Walsall having Walker (33) sent-off having to play almost an hour with 10-men was going to be tough, with this even tougher when Lewington (35) gave MK Dons the lead shortly after.

A 2-0 win was secured just before the break when Ibehre (45) also scored.

Wycombe 1-2 Sheff Wed
10-man Wycombe were beaten 2-1 at home by Sheff Wednesday.

Semedo (23) gave Sheff Wed the lead but Wycombe were soon level through Ibe (29), it was not long before the visitors were ahead again through Lowe (35), with what proved to be the winner. A second booking for Ainsworth (73) saw him sent off so Wycombe ended with 10-men.

Yeovil 0-1 Huddersfield
Huddersfield’s amazing run continued with another three points collected at Yeovil.

A goal late on through Robinson (80) secured a 1-0 win.
