Manager Paul Tisdale has said he was relatively pleased to take a point from Burton Albion as it keeps us moving forward.

A win for Burton would’ve seen them go on level points with League leaders Wycombe Wanderers and a win for us might have resulted in us going into the play off spots, but in a match that was evenly contested but with few chances, Tisdale couldn’t argue too much with a solid point.

Speaking to the Official Site following the game, he explained.

‘It’s a good point, it’s better than nothing and it keeps us moving forward. At the end of the season we’ll know how important it was. It has also taken two points off a competitor.’

The point also left us unbeaten in eight with some good momentum behind us, and the manager felt largely we hadn’t shown that unfortunately.

‘We played with the ball and they played without the ball. They had control of the game by doing so – we made the passes but I thought they had control of the game and I wasn’t particularly pleased with how it was going. I know we played some nice passes but we had no productivity at the front of the pitch. We couldn’t find the forwards or they couldn’t be found – whichever is the major influence there I don’t quite know.’

He goes on to say that having made life difficult for us, and with us not playing as well as we know we are capable of playing then it raises the question was it us or down to them, and for him he feels it was probably somewhere in the middle, so for him he’ll draw a line under it, be happy with the point and move on looking for improvements.

Midfielder Matty Grimes also spoke after the game and admitted that players can often get asked about whether you’d take a point before a game, but it’s really about how the game pans out and having to come from behind late on, the players were pleased to have got something out of it especially as they know we weren’t at our best on the day.
