Manager Paul Tisdale has said he was delighted to see Exeter hold on for a two one victory over Dagenham and Redbridge in the midweek fixture.

Speaking to the Official Site following goals from Ryan Harley and Troy Brown, despite a late surge by Dagenham, Tisdale said he was pleased with how we saw the game out.

‘They suddenly had a surge at the end and I have to say the last five minutes were very uncomfortable. But before that I thought we had the full flow of the game. We weren’t impeccable with our play, but we certainly had the flow of the game. We were sharp as a team and we played some good football in pockets and we had a threat on their goal. So, as a manager, you look at the game as a whole and I think we were good value for our three points.’

With Tisdale giving summer signing Manny Oyeleke his first start, the gaffer went on to say that he felt his performance in the middle of the park was ‘outstanding’ especially for a full debut.

‘He showed real athleticism and drive in the midfield. That was a real plus for us and Jordan Tillson put in another really good performance. So, the squad’s strength is starting to build as well. We have picked up six points out of the first three games. I’m happy with that. It is not the full house, but it is a good start and the squad is building.’

Praising the fans for their efforts on the day again Tisdale went on to say it really makes a difference for the players, especially when they are under the cosh but he more than appreciates it’s the players’ jobs to get the fans up for a game as well.

‘Sometimes we just have to be steady on the pitch and make good, solid decisions and build with the spirit the supporters give us. They lifted us just before we scored our second goal. We had a bit of play in their left-back position with our right sided attack, and we kept the pressure on, the crowd lifted and within a couple of minutes we had scored. That is symptomatic of a good away performance.’

The gaffer also confirmed that the players had been given a little more time off this week given the coach broke down on the way back from the game and the squad didn’t get to Devon until 7am the next morning.
