Trio of home defeats for City

After a pause for post-match sulking, drinking and the associated slow recovery, we’d better mention City’s 1-0 defeat at home to Luton.

Our fourth consecutive home loss – the Torquay play-off reverse being the first, followed by Southampton, Shrewsbury and Luton this term – is perhaps some cause for concern, although once again there’s something of a hard luck story to tell.

City passed the ball nicely, but created just a handful of chances. If we were ruthless in front of goal that might suffice, but, with two efforts cleared off the line – the story of our season – many fans are beginning to think we either need a truly lethal striker or a system that creates a bit more pressure in the opposition box.

Luton’s winner came from a Sam Parkin header early in the second half after yet another nitpicky free-kick from a referee who must surely be on-loan from the Conference.

He waved away a last minute penalty shout too, but we won’t go on about that…

Come on City. Four points from four games isn’t the worst start, so let’s push on from here. Remember everyone, it’s still Fortress St James Park and We WILL Score Again…
