Exeter City are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Ollie Watkins in the two nil victory over Mansfield Town at the weekend at St James Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Watkins was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Exeter grabbed their first home win of the campaign, and Watkins was the man to thank for lifting the gloom down in Devon. Watkins, a former EFL Young Player of the Month, struck a goal in each half to see off Mansfield Town.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Watkins for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Stuart Nelson (Gillingham), Chris Robertson (Wimbledon), Liam Moore (Reading), Kyle Bartley (Leeds United), Tommy Smith (Huddersfield Town), Jimmy Smith (Crawley Town), Matty Lund (Rochdale), Ryan Kent (Barnsley), Ollie Watkins (Exeter City), Billy Sharp (Sheffield United), Chris Maguire (Oxford United).

Manager – Danny Wilson (Chesterfield).
