Exeter City are represented in the latest Football League team of midweek that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by David Wheeler in the four two victory over Wycombe Wanderers in midweek at St James Park was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Wheeler was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Exeter are unstoppable at the moment, winning their last six games, going 11 unbeaten and climbing to fourth in Sky Bet League Two. Wheeler is one of the reasons behind that form with six goals in as many games after netting the opener against Wycombe Wanderers, and he notched an assist too in the 4-2 home win.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Wheeler for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.
