Exeter City Reserves lost 2-0 to a strong Cardiff side in Wales, comprising of six internationals.

In what was a behind the door friendly match at Cardiff`s new 26,000 all-seater stadium, Ross McCormack and former Plymouth Argyle full back Tony Capaldi scored the two goals which gave the Bluebirds` victory.

McCormack was the Championship`s side top scorer last season with 23 goals. And he showed his class when he opened the scoring with a superbly taken free kick from 25 yards out, before Capaldi doubled their lead just before half time.

The game proved a good work out for both sides, with Cardiff playing arch rivals Swansea at the weekend, and the Grecians playing Nuneaton in the FA Cup 1st round in the first of three successive away games.
