Striker Sam Parkin has said he was pleased to get 90 minutes under his belt again for the first time since the visit of Southend back in November, but the overriding feeling at full time was relief with a good point in the game against Dagenham and Redbridge.

Despite leading, Parkin told the Official Site that the way the game played out it was really an emotional rollercoaster, but he felt we thoroughly deserved the point in the end owing to our efforts.

‘It was obviously nice for me to be back out there, but it was disappointing to let a lead slip. And then it was a rollercoaster of emotions to get the point at the end. It was relief more than anything to get something out of the game, because we would have been very disappointed if we hadn’t taken anything.’

Parkin goes on to say that he felt the first half performance from us was much more like how we had been playing at the beginning of the season as there was a real ‘togetherness and energy’ in our play and he felt we really had the ‘bit between our teeth’ to get something out of the match, and thankfully that was a spirit we showed right up until the end of the match as we sought the equaliser.

Following on from three defeats on the bounce, at least the draw brings that sequence to an end and gives us something to build on again, especially if we can now replicate that type of performance and start scoring on a more regular basis.

Three points would’ve obviously done a lot more for us, but as Parkin points out, that could be a very important point come the end of the season – especially if we can now get some kind of momentum going.
