‘The signs are very good for Exeter City’, insists Steve Perryman.
Reflecting on Tuesday’s defeat to Southampton, Perryman told the Express & Echo: ‘We were up against a classy, young and vibrant team who were very quick on the break against us.
‘I thought we showed some really good things. We showed some real confidence and a good understanding. I think we’re on the right road.
‘Jonesy stood up to the task very well and showed he is developing as a keeper, which is great.
‘Look at how decent their wide men were. And yet our full-backs had good games against them.
Perryman was also delighted with the attendance for City’s first game since 2003 as a League club.
‘You know things are going right when you are getting 6,000-plus crowds.
‘We have to encourage the fans back here and anyone seeing this game will tell their workmates tomorrow ‘do yourself a favour and go and watch them play on Saturday’.’
