Exeter City Football Club are delighted to announce the loan signing of Charlton Athletic striker Stuart Fleetwood until the end of the season.

The 23-year-old has scored 45 career goals in 100 starts including 32 last season for Forest Green and has recently had loan spells at League One sides Brighton and Cheltenham from his parent club Charlton.

After starting off his career at Cardiff, Fleetwood moved to Hereford, then a Conference side, in 2006. He scored four goals in his first seven games for the Bulls and eventually helped them to promotion to the league via the Play Offs. In fact he came on as a substitute for Adam Stansfield in both the Semi Final and the Final itself.

He went on to score Hereford’s first Football League goal since 1997 and became the first Hereford player to score a hat-trick in a League Cup tie when he netted against Coventry. This form let to a call up for the Wales under 21`s.

However, a viral infection delayed his progress at Hereford and he featured three times on loan at Accrington Stanley before leaving the Bulls and signing a one year deal with Forest Green Rovers in the summer of 2007.

Fleetwood went on to score 32 goals last season including a double at the Park in autumn 2007 in a 3-3 draw.

A hat-trick against Cambridge United last September came in the middle of a two week purple patch in which he scored an impressive nine times in four games.

He also played a vital role in their FA Cup run, scoring two goals against Rotherham in a 2-2 draw in the first round and 1 in their replay win. He also scored against Swindon in the next round but couldn`t stop Rovers slipping to a 3-2 defeat.

Big money bids were turned down and Fleetwood committed his future to Forest Green till the end of the campaign.

He then joined Charlton on a three year deal after his contract expired, although they paid a ‘developmental’ compensation fee for the striker, although he is yet to make a first team appearance.

Fleetwood most recent action was exactly a week ago as he scored an excellent volley and created a goal for Charlton’s reserves in a 3-2 win over Gillingham.
