League one round-up: 25th October 2011

The football league season continued with a round of midweek games, the npower league one is rounded-up in this article.

Brentford 0-1 Stevenage
Brentford slipped up at home against Stevenage, going down 1-0.

After a goalless first half, with time running out in the second, Beardsley (73) scored the winner for the visitors.

Bury 2-2 Notts County
Having twice led Bury had to be content with a home draw against Notts County.

Bishop (5) gave Bury an early lead although this was cancelled out before the break when J Hughes (37) converted a penalty. When Coke (55) scored from the spot in the second half the hosts looked on course for victory before the games third penalty was again converted by J Hughes (80) to see the points shared.

Carlisle 3-2 Sheff Wed
Carlisle came from behind to beat Sheff Wed 3-2.

Marshall (35) gave Sheff Wed a half time lead but three second half goals in less than 15-minutes from Miller (50), Loy (56) and Noble (64) turned the game on its head.

The visitors were then reduced to 10-men when Madine (81) picked up his second booking, Wednesday still managed to score again though but R Jones’ (88) goal was just a consolation.

Colchester 1-1 Bournemouth
Having slipped behind early on Colchester rescued a home point against Bournemouth courtesy of a late own goal.

Bournemouth were ahead before some U’s fans might have even taken their seats when Thomas (1) struck. This lead was held going into the final 20-minutes but an own goal from Zubar (og 72) saw the game end in a 1-1 draw.

Hartlepool 0-2 Tranmere
Tranmere maintained the good start to the season with a 2-0 win at Hartlepool.

A second half doubt from Akins (46 & 66) gave Tranmere the points.

Preston 3-3 Oldham
Preston and Oldham played our a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Tsoumou (28) and Proctor (32) had Preston in control, and on course for a half time lead, but goals from Kuqi (41) and Wesolowski (44) levelled it up at 2-2 at the break.

When Devine (64) struck just after the hour the hosts finally looked to have secured the points but Wesolowski (86) struck again just before full time to earn the visitors a share.

Rochdale 1-1 Chesterfield
Rochdale and Chesterfield had to be content with a point apiece as they played out a 1-1 draw.

Westcarr (36) had given Chesterfield the lead but Jones (74) grabbed a point for Rochdale with time running out.

Scunthorpe 2-2 Huddersfield
Huddersfield stretched their unbeaten record to 40 league games but had to be content with a point at Scunthorpe.

Norwood (10) had given Scunthorpe the lead but Miller (25) soon levelled for Huddersfield who then took a late lead through the free-scoring Rhodes (86). This lead was short-lived though with Dagnall (88) securing the hosts a 2-2 draw minutes later.

Sheff United 2-1 MK Dons
MK Dons slipped to defeat at Bramall Lane with Sheff United coming out on top 2-1.

A Cresswell (22) goal midway through the first half gave the hosts a half time lead but Gleeson (52) soon levelled up for The Dons after the break. Having struck midway through the first half Sheff United managed this feat midway through the second too with M Phillips (67) scoring what proved to be the winner.

MK Dons’ chances of forcing an equaliser were made all the more harder when Smith (83) was sent-off for a second bookable offence.

Walsall 1-2 Exeter
Exeter made it back-to-back victories with a win at Walsall.

Nardiello (8) gave Exeter a great start but Nicholls (12) soon levelled for Walsall. The visitors were not to be denied though with Nardiello (78) striking again late on to secure a 2-1 win.


Wycombe 1-2 Charlton
Charlton maintained their grip at the top of the table with a win at Wycombe.

A first half double from Wright-Phillips (6 & 41) had Charlton in control. Beavon’s (63) goal just after the hour for Wycombe was not enough as they went down 2-1.

Yeovil 2-2 Leyton Orient
Yeovil came from behind to lead but had to settle for a point in the end when they conceded late on against Leyton Orient.

Mooney (30) opened the scoring for Leyton Orient but Yeovil were soon level through Agard (37) and went into the break 2-1 up when Ngala (41) also scored. With the hosts on course for victory Mooney (87) struck again, from the spot, with time running out to make it 2-2.
