Logan rescues a point for Exeter

Richard Logan came off the bench to score a header three minutes from time to rescue a point for Exeter City at home to Swindon Town.

With the game petering out for a 1-0 defeat for the Grecians, Danny Seaborne crossed from the left hand side, and despite a slight deflection of an opposition defender, Logan manage to steer the ball into the net.

Exeter had reasonably well, knocking the ball around in midfield for the first half, but without a cutting edge up front. Then from the half hour mark up until half time, the visitors grew in confidence and only a combination of some glaring misses and excellent saves from Oscar Jansson kept the scores level.

Swindon continued to threaten after the break, and Exeter`s fragilities at set pieces haunted them again, when Kevin Amankwaah powered in a header at the back post after John McGovern`s cross from a short corner.

After this, Exeter continued to struggle in creating good opportunities, and the introduction of Adam Stansfield and Stuart Fleetwood for Marcus Stewart and Barry Corr didn`t change that. However, Logan is always a threat in the air, and as he did against Norwich, secured a grateful point for the Grecian.

This point leaves City with ten points from ten games just a couple of places above the relegation zone. However, the division is still very tight, and we are only five points off the playoffs. Paul Tisdale would have learnt much about his strike force tonight, and perhaps Logan will get his first start of the season on Saturday at home to Hartlepool United. On paper this looks to be a game we would hope to win at home, but United came back to draw at Stockport last night after going two goals down. Home form will be crucial to our fortunes this season and victories have to come sooner rather than later, although we have lost only one of five games at home which is a positive.
